ESP8266 NodeMCU and WEMOS D1 MINI

See here for how to make a tiny RemoteSign!

The NodeMCU implementation does not support sound, and animated rows us a more modern wipe when updated a line. It has an automatic screen dimmer that activates 5 minutes after the last command.

Mac

No, it does not run on a Mac unless it run under Windows emulation. (But watch this space!)

The 'other' software

The controlling program however could be running on any platform as all it needs to do is send TCPIP packets to the RemoteSign machine.

In terms of performance, the speed of the animated signs is somewhat influenced by the speed of the processor. Animated signs (with sound) play OK on a Windows ME machine that has a 333Mhz CPU.

Arrivals and Departures

The Arrivals and Departures software runs on Windows 8 or later. (The servers that provide the data demand TLS 1.2 which is not supported in Window 7 and earlier.) You can still runs RemoteSign on an older machine and drive the screen content from another machine (Windows 8 or later) on the network.
